Can Someone Help Me Find Something?
By Cameron Ferroni | April 15, 2008
Once again I was confounded by the complexities of local search today. And so, I’m wondering if you folks out there might be able to help me? I was doing a search to try to find some local training for our engineering team (we are evaluating a bunch of new options, and I wanted to see what was out there). In particular I was hoping to find some folks that did advanced, intact, senior training - anything from QA best practices, to Java, Perl, Ruby on Rails, to Product Management.
Man - what a challenge. After a couple of hours I had managed to find one upcoming conference on Java, 2 passable online learning sites with basic programming skills, and one decent book on PM. If there are highly qualified trainers out there in Seattle, I couldn’t find them.
Which struck me - the local B2C offerings on the Web are difficult to find at the best of times. And there are hundreds of companies trying to make this better. What about B2B? Who out there is really taking the reins of trying to make this a compelling experience? And if not - why not?
So I guess my questions today are - 1. Does anyone know/recommend any great trainers in the technical field in Seattle? and 2. Are there any really interesting B2B sites out there worth checking out?
In the meantime, in local news I checked out one new restaurant, ”Moxie”, and one new pub, “The Auld Triangle” last week.

I can’t think of anyone specializing in training out in Seattle but O’Reilly’s Open Source Convention will be in Portland, OR in July

You may want to vent your concerns to some of the local sites out there at the Kelsey show at the end of this month in Seattle:

If you’re looking for someone local, you should ask someone from Amazon.
