Local is the fastest growing segment of search and has often been called the last frontier in online advertising. But getting local right for both consumers and advertisers is not easy.

Here at Marchex we are intrigued by these challenges and focused on the huge opportunity they represent. In fact we can’t stop talking about them and know that others focused on the space can’t either, which is why we launched LocalPoint.com. Here you will find the latest perspectives on local search from leaders throughout the industry, including some of the many people here at Marchex who are not only thinking and talking about the Local Internet, but are actively helping to address the challenges and realize the opportunity. Over the coming days and weeks, the folks at Marchex sharing their perspectives will include, Chairman and CEO, Russell C.     Here, here. Joe Walsh’s quote is spot on. All local businesses know they need to be doing something with search. There are so many options, and probably four times as many companies pitching some type of local search offering. Good luck with the blog.

    Hello Fellows,
    Just dropped in from Matt McGee’s blog to check out what is going on here. This looks like it will be an interesting resource. More information about Local Search is always a great thing.

    By the way, I would suggest adding Mike Blumenthal to your blogroll. His blog is really one of the most respected local blogs I know of and I always learn a lot when I go there.
